7th/8th Grade 11/16/14

Dear PASJE Parents, We began class today with a written and oral review of the history we have learned so far this year. Our history lesson continued with a discussion of Jewish life in Western Europe during the Reformation and Enlightenment. We learned Jews were increasingly confined to ghettoes during this period (1620-1740) and came to rely heavily on tradition to deal with their daily stress. We completed our Talmudic lesson about damages, looking again at the four types of damages (The PIT, The TOOTH, The OX and The FIRE.) We applied our Talmud knowledge to modern cases. Our final activity was finding out what each student knew about Hanukkah. Our next lesson, on December 7, will focus on The True Story of Hanukkah. Best wishes, Terry Fayer
