5th/6th Grade 11/2/14

Dear Parents,

This week, we began our crash course into the early history of Zionism by talking about the history of sequential invitations and then expulsions that Jews experienced in Europe, and about the wave of emancipation from the ghettos that began with Napoleon in the early Nineteenth Century. I tried to motivate the discussion by showing the kids an article from Stanford's student newspaper about student politics regarding Israel to demonstrate that soon enough they'll need to think critically and form their own well-informed opinions about Israel.

We also enjoyed singing some new songs with Michael, our wonderful song leader, as well as discussing last week's Torah portion (Lekh l'Kha) which is about Abraham and Sarah.

Have a good week!

Sincerely,

Daniel
