• to introduce the history, meaning and traditions of the holiday Hanukkah.

• to introduce a hero, Judah Maccabee, in the story of Hanukkah.

• to introduce the legend about the miracle of oil in the Temple of Jerusalem.

Story: Harvest Of Light by Allison Ofanansky . Project: Making Hanukkiah out of popsicle sticks and construction paper. Suggestion for family activities: Share with your children your childhood experience celebrating Hanukkah. Ask your child: Why did Jewish people fight the King Antiochous?
