1st/2nd Grade 2/9/14
Dear 1st/2nd Grade families:
On Sunday our class studied the story of Joseph, the son of Jacob and Rachel, which can be found in the Book of Genesis.
We learned that:
Joseph was his father’s favorite son because he reminded him of his wife Rachel, Joseph's mother.
His father gave him a multicolored colored coat, which made his 11 brothers jealous. In revenge, they threw him in a pit and sold him into slavery.
He had the capacity to interpret dreams which enabled him to become the second most powerful man in Egypt next to Pharaoh. There are many practical lessons that one can learn from the story of Joseph.
Some of the most important are:
To be courageous in the midst of some of life’s worst storms.
Share your wisdom with others.
Don't feel ashamed to forgive those around you.
Please ask your child to share one thing, new or old, that they learned about Joseph. Also ask him or her to show you the beautiful multicolored coat they made using crayons, colored pencils and watercolors.
Shavua tov,
Nia
