7th/8th Grades 12-7-14
Dear PASJE Parents, Our history lesson today looked at Jewish life under the Ottoman Empire from the 13th that Jews generally fared better under Muslin rule than Christian rule. We also looked at the Jews arriving in Poland in the 15th century and found that they did well until the Cossack massacre of 100,000 Jews, 1648-1658. The class read and discussed the NYTimes Op-ed The Celebration of Hanukkah, Then and Now, 12/20/97. We learned about the complexity of the story of Hanukkah from the Torah Aura publication, The True Story of Hanukkah. We ended class with a wonderful selection of sing along Hanukkah songs with our fine music teacher, Michael. Best wishes, Terry Fayer
