Welcome to Kindergarten class. My name is Natalya Martyushova. I am very excited about this coming school year. There will be lots of fun and engaging activities for children during our Jewish discovery throughout the year. Topic of the day: Rosh HaShanah Goals:

• Introduce children to the meaning and traditions of the holiday, Rosh HaShanah.

• Introduce the vocabulary and symbols of the holiday, RoshHaShanah:

Rosh HaShanah – New Year ( Head of the Year) , Tapuchim- Apples,

Dvash – Honey, Shofar – Shofar ( a horn that we blow on High Holy Days),

pomegranate – rimon ( seeds inside symbolize the 613 commandments in

the Torah) , Shanah Tovah! –Happy New Year! ( greeting for Rosh Hashanah).

Story: The World’s Birthday, Rosh HaShanah story. Project: Making Torah Greeting card for Rosh Hashanah. Suggestion for family activities: Have a discussion with children about what they liked and what they did not like about the past year, how they can do better in the coming year.
