7th/8th Grades 11/9/14

Dear PASJE Parents, Our history lesson today concerned the expulsion of Jews in Western Europe between the 12th centuries. We touched on the Inquisition, forced conversion, and the rise of Jewish Mysticism. We continued our Talmudic lesson about damages. We are in the process of looking at how the four types of damages-- The PIT, The TOOTH, The OX and The FIRE-- can be applied to modern disputes. The entire class really enjoyed music with our long-time music teacher, Michael. The group sounds lovely singing together. Our final activity was a debate on the following: Resolve that secular Christmas symbols and activities should be allowed in California’s public schools. We followed formal debate procedure, and I was thrilled that all the students wanted to take part. Many strong opinions were expressed and new ideas exchanged. Best wishes, Terry Fayer
